Join community music leader Polly Murray for a vibrant series of workshops designed to inspire and broaden your musical skills. Whether you’re curious about exploring your voice in new and creative ways, building confidence in group singing, or learning the essentials of music reading, Polly’s sessions offer something for everyone.

Available Workshops Include:

• Introduction to Reading Music For Community Choir Singers: Are you a community choir singer who loves to sing but feels lost when looking at sheet music? This friendly, accessible workshop is designed just for you! In this practical session, we’ll explore how to navigate a piece of sheet music in a choir setting; following your specific voice part, following the lyrics, keeping your place, recognising common symbols, how to follow repeat marks etc. You’ll also be introduced to the basics of sheet music, including the stave, bars and note lengths, which will help with rhythm and timing of your choir songs.
  For: Everyone, 18+
  
• Reading Music with Confidence is a follow-up course for singers who have completed Introduction to Reading Music for Community Choir Singers and would like to build on what they’ve learned. This practical session revisits key concepts and focuses on using them confidently in real choir music. Through guided exercises and supported practice, you’ll develop greater fluency with rhythm, pitch movement, and score navigation, helping you stay oriented in rehearsals and feel more secure singing your part. The emphasis is on confidence, not perfection – giving you the tools to enjoy singing with your choir even more.
  For: Anyone who has completed ‘Introduction to Music Reading’
  
• Circle Singing – this 1.5 hour welcoming workshop is for anyone who wants to build confidence with vocal improvisation, or choir leaders who would like to learn and share a new technique with their members.

• Vocal Painting – Step into the creative world of Vocal Painting. A fun and expressive way to shape music in real time using hand gestures. We’ll start by learning familiar song choruses and then use simple signals to transform the sound by holding a chord, raising the volume, shifting the pitch, or looping a phrase. It’s a creative, spontaneous experience for singers of all abilities and lots of fun!
